A second suspect has been arrested after a man was shot and killed in a Walmart parking lot early Wednesday morning in Copperas Cove.
According to Copperas Cove Police, it was a drug deal that went bad.
Police said Terence Len Daniel Junior, 21, and Tadarius Lavonte Davis, 20, both from Killeen, met up with Thomas Gene Smethers, 24, at the Walmart parking lot located at 2720 East Business Highway 190.
It happened around 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 28. That’s when police said Smethers was shot multiple times. By the time police arrived both Daniel and Davis had fled the scene.
Davis was located and arrested on Thursday afternoon.
After police issued an arrest warrant and were searching for Daniel, he turned himself in late this afternoon.
Davis is currently in the Killeen City Jail and awaiting transfer to the Bell County Jail. He has been charged with murder and is on a one million dollar bond.
Sergeant Martin Ruiz of the Copperas Cove Police Department, said the case involved more than one jurisdiction and each agency played a key role in overcoming those boundaries.
“Killeen Police Department helped us out tremendously. Right when we put out the description of the car that’s when they saw the car, and that’s how we ended up getting that first suspect. When all this happened we called the Texas Rangers and they helped out, as well as our officers from Coryell County. Everyone pitched in and that’s how it all came together,” Ruiz said.
Daniel is being held at the Killeen Police Department and is awaiting arraignment.
