Shooter, victim ID’ed in shooting in Killeen store that was ruled a murder-suicide

Killeen police say the man who shot and killed his wife then himself was an active duty Marine stationed in California who had driven to Killeen to commit the act.

The female victim has been identified as 22-year-old Erica Denise Townsend-Whitfield, currently of Killeen who was an employee of the Dollar General store at 4102 Watercrest where the shooting occurred.

The presumed shooter has been identified as her estranged husband, 22-year-old Angelo Myshun Townsend-Whitfield with a home-of-record of Chicago.

Officers had responded to a shooting report at the store Sunday at 1:11 p.m.

They arrived to find the man and woman dead inside the store.

Police were told the man entered the store, found the woman and shot her, then turned the gun on himself.

There were employees and customers inside the store at the time, but there were no threats made to anyone else and no other injuries.
