Shots fired at one party, arrest at another in Temple

Two parties where things got out of hand kept Temple police very busy early Sunday morning.

About 1:00 a.m. officers responded to the area of Lavendusky Drive and North 42nd street initially on a loud music complaint.

Police say they found dozens of people present with many intoxicated and apparently upset that police had responded to the complaint.

Numerous fights broke out with the officers present.

While attempting to take one person into custody, an officer was assaulted.

The officers found themselves greatly outnumbered and called for assistance, with a constable, DPS troopers and Bell County Sheriff’s Deputies all responding to help out.

One man, identified as 28-year-old Bocanegra-Rodriguez, was taken into custody on charges of resisting arrest, assault on a police officer, possession of a controlled substance ( meth) interference with public duties and an immigration violation.

Just a few minutes before this incident, at 12:22 a.m. other officers had responded to the 100 block of North 7th street in reference to shots being fired at a Halloween party.

A vehicle was stopped leaving the area, occupied by thre men, one of whom suffered from a single gunshot wound to the right leg.

Officers set up a crime scene with several shell casings located and two parked vehicles hit by gunfire.

The wounded man told officers he did not know how he got shot.

That incident remains under investigation.
