An 18-year-old Arlington man is being held, charged with firing shots after a DPS trooper tried to stop him for a traffic violation in Waco.

Rodney Lynn Ross, Jr is facing multiple charges following the incident that occurred about 1:12 a.m. Sunday when the trooper attempted to stop a Chrysler 200 for a minor traffic violation on Park Street at the I-35 frontage road in Waco.

The driver of the Chrysler, later identified as Ross, fired shots in the air with a rifle and attempted to flee the trooper, heading north on I-35.

His bond was set at a total of $46,000.
