A fight escalates among brothers in Bellmead.

The Bellmead Police Department dispatched officers to a residence in the 1100 block of La Vega Street at 5:07 p.m. Friday.

This was in reference to a possible assault in progress. One the subjects had a knife.

When officers arrived, they could see a man trying to get into the back of the residence. This man was called away from the door and identified as 19-year-old Moses Sanchez.

Through investigation, it was found Sanchez was arguing with his 20-year-old brother. During the argument, Sanchez headbutted him.

The brother started to defend himself, and Sanchez moved away during the scuffle between them.

However, according to witnesses and the brother, Sanchez then grabbed a knife and went after his brother.

Fortunately, an uncle intervened and was able to get Sanchez outside. They were then able to keep him from getting back inside to them which is consistent with what the officer viewed upon arrival with Sanchez trying to get back inside the home.

Sanchez received some minor injuries and refused medical treatment from ETMC on scene. He was then transported to the McLennan County Jail for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon against a Family Member.
