A 38-year-old man that Bell County Jail records has listed as homeless is being held on multiple charges following a Friday incident in which a woman was strangled and items were taken from her home.
David Edward Lewis was initially held on outstanding warrants connected with a traffic crash issued by another agency while the District Attorney reviewed the case for additional charges.
Police report a woman came into the police department lobby at 7:10 p.m. Friday to report she had been attacked at her home
She told officers a man had been trying to force his way into her home, so she opened the door and tried to run away around him.
She told police the man grabbed her and began to strangle her to the point where she almost passed out.
She noticed several items taken from her home before the man fled.
She managed to drive to the police station where officers took her information, the took her to the Baylor Scott & White emergency room to be treated.
Lewis was arrested on Saturday.
