You will soon be talking to an electronic robot when you make a non-emergency call to the Temple Police Department.
The Department has announced it will be putting an automated phone system in operation beginning February 12 to assist with calls to their regular, non-emergency, business line.
There will be a trial period from February through August to allow the department to gauge how the public responds to the system.
There will be a survey regarding its use distributed via the department’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.
When calling the non-emergency line at 254-298-5500, the automated system will allow callers to be connected to the proper department through the use of the following options:
Dial 1 to Report a Crime
Dial 2 to Administration
Dial 3 to Community Policing Services
Dial 4 to Criminal Investigations
Dial 5 to Narcotics Investigations
Dial 6 to Training Unit
Dial 7 to Property and Evidence
Dial 8 to Records Unit
Dial 9 to False Alarm Reduction Program
Dial 0 to Speak to a Person
Emergency calls to 9-1-1 will be handled by a live operator.
