Texas Troopers say one person is dead and two others are in the hospital after a crash Monday morning in Copperas Cove, on FM 116.

Investigators say a 2001 Buick crossed over the center line while going south and hit a 2017 Jeep SUV head on.

30-year-old Summer Hanbuth of Gatesville died at the scene.  She was driving the Buick.  There was also a boy in the vehicle.  He is at McLane Children’s Scott & White Clinic with what troopers say is non-incapacitating injuries.

A helicopter took the driver of the Jeep, 47-year-old Lance Heidt of Copperas Cove, to Baylor Scott & White Medical center.  He has incapacitating injuries.

Troopers are not saying at this time why Hanbuth’s car swerved into oncoming traffic.
