The Proctor Christmas House

When we think about decorating your home for Christmas, some of us tend to do something a bit simple – some Christmas lights around the front of the house. and maybe even some decorations on the lawn.

But there’s one house in particular here in Waco taking Christmas decorations to a whole new level.

Welcome to 2737 Proctor Avenue – where there are lights, lights….and more lights! It’s a 41+ year tradition for Alice and Epifanio Tristan, the homeowners of this extravagant Christmas display.

“She’s been doing this for 41 years. I’m 29, and ever since I can remember, we’ve been coming by here and looking at the lights every year,” says Jason Carter, of Waco.

“I like the dinosaurs,” says Jason’s daughter, Willow.

Undoubtedly, it’s a big hit with the locals.

“I like the lights,” said another little girl.

Her mother and father have been coming to the house since before she was born.

“We come every year. We came before she was born, and we brought her every year since,” they said.

Even the puppies are excited, as some dogs and their owners circled the property.

Alice tells us it takes her days, if not weeks, to complete – with some help from her husband, adding new things everyday.

The house has received so much recognition throughout the years, that its become one of the houses to beat on ABC’s “The Great Christmas Light Fight” airing later this month.

And if you’re wondering just how much a light display will cost you, Alice says “It’s the smiles of the children who help pay the bill.”

Little Lily Perez says, “I just love coming here.”

Although the homeowners did not want to be on camera, they say as long as the children of Waco are happy, they will continue this for years to come.
