Thrown rock shuts down Cameron Park Zoo exhibit

A Cameron Park Zoo exhibit is shut down indefinitely after a six-year-old boy threw a rock and damaged a glass partition.

The incident happened Wednesday at noon at the caiman exhibit in the zoo’s herpetarium.

The child was visiting from College Station’s Greens Prairie Elementary. He told zoo representatives that he was trying to throw the rock into the exhibit.

Zoo representatives say no visitors or animals were injured or in any danger, and that the glass is designed to shatter while staying in place.  They must order a new piece of glass, which may take sometime since it is eight feet tall and 2.5 inches thick.
