Two-story home declared total loss

A Harker Heights home catches fire and is declared a total loss.

The Harker Heights Fire Department received a dispatch from the Bell County 911 Center at 8:23 p.m. Thursday for a reported structure fire at 1205 Rocky Ridge Trail.

The first units on scene arrived to find a two-story residential home under construction completely engulfed in flames.

A “defensive attack” was initiated and protection of nearby structures was performed. No other structures were damaged, and the fire was under control within 20 minutes.

The home was a new building under construction, and is considered a complete loss.

The fire was extinguished at 9:24 p.m. No injuries were sustained by anyone one scene.

The Killeen Fire Department was requested for assistance. When they arrived, the fire was under control and the Killeen FD engine was canceled on scene.

This fire is still under investigation.
