Construction for the new BNSF Railroad bridge in Temple will be causing a road closure.
On Friday night, the Texas Department of Transportation will be closing the southbound access road in north Temple from 11:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. This will allow work crews to hang beams for the bridge.
Traffic on the access road will be directed onto the mainlanes south of the Spur 290 intersection, and will be able to exit back to the access road north of Nugent Street.
Due to the late hour for starting and for the early finish time expected, TxDOT does not anticipate long wait times for traffic. There will be police officers and vehicles in the area to help with any traffic problems if they occur.
There was a last-minute opportunity to schedule delivery of concrete beams and hang them for the bridge due to a rainstorm in Temple on Wednesday night.
