UPDATE: Coryell County fire grows

A spokesperson with the Texas A&M Forest Service says a fire that has already burned about 1000 acres north of Copperas Cove was about 50 percent contained on Friday afternoon.

30 homes are threatened. The fire is active and jumped containment.

There are now mandatory evacuations of homes on the following County Roads: 137 through 142, as well as Star Lane and Slater Road near Harmon.

Firefighters say the fire jumped CR-142 around 5:00 p.m. on Friday, headed towards Pearl.

The Forest Service has provided engines, bulldozers and personnel to assist multiple fire departments who have been fighting the fire for over two days in an area along Harmon Road.
