UPDATE: Officer involved in Harker Heights crash identified

The officer involved in a motorcycle crash in the 100 block of E. Central Texas Expressway has been identified.

Officer Clyde Hicks is a veteran of the Harker Heights Police Department and an employee with the City of Harker Heights since 2000. He is no longer in I.C.U., but in general recovery at Baylor Scott and White hospital.

Hicks was attempting to catch up with a traffic violator on the Knights Way Bridge turnaround on Saturday afternoon. He lost control of his motorcycle while turning left onto west bound East Central Texas Expressway. The motorcycle was laid down as it skidded across both lanes of west bound traffic on East Central Texas Expressway, separating Hicks from the motorcycle as it was sliding across the roadway and into the driveway of a local business.

Harker Heights Emergency Medical Services transported Hicks to Baylor Scott and White Hospital, where he was admitted to I.C.U.
