Update: Standoff ends, man in custody

UPDATE: Bryan police report a standoff involving a man who had barricaded himself in at a residence in the 800 block of McAshan ended peacefully about 10:00 p.m. Sunday.

Thirty-one-year-old Joseph Manuel Viscaya was arrested for an outstanding parole violation warrant and booked into the Brazos County Jail.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Bryan police report negotiating with a barricaded man Sunday at approximately 4:30 pm.

Officers responded to the 800 block of McAshan St. for a felony warrant service on a 31- year- old male.

The man refused to exit the residence and has barricaded himself inside.

The Bryan Police Department’s Emergency Response Unit, consisting of the Tactical Response Team and the Crisis Negotiation Team, was initiated at 5:30 pm.

The man is in the house alone and the Crisis Negotiation Team is working on trying to resolve the issue peacefully.

McAshan St. is closed and we ask that people please avoid the area.

We do not believe the general public is in any danger at this time.

Fox 44 got the report at 8:40 pm – with police stating this is still ongoing.
