A vehicle fleeing police crashed in a neighborhood Monday morning and two people were reported in custody, with one expected to be arrested.
The incident occurred on Dutton Avenue about 10:30 a.m. as officers attempted to stop a vehicle occupied by a man and a woman, one of which was believed named in arrest warrants.
Officers said they recognized the driver as a man for whom there were multiple outstanding felony warrants.
The driver had been spotted by members of the U.S. Marshal’s task force who asked for assistance from Waco police officers to make the traffic stop.
The vehicle fled east on Dutton, going through at least one red light and crashed at 17th street.
The fleeing vehicle was a black Chrysler that struck a Honda occupied by an elderly female.
All three were transported to Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Hospital to be checked out but injuries were thought to be relatively minor.
The man was expected to be arrested and taken to jail after release from the hospital while his female passenger had not been arrested but was being questioned.
