A Waco area attorney is speaking out about the $500 million settlement reached between Michigan State University and the young woman abused by disgraced gymnastics coach Larry Nassar.

Nassar worked as a sports physician at MSU from 1997 to 2016. He admitted in court earlier this year to sexually abusing young girls and women over two decades.

In the settlement, $425 million will be paid to over 300 current survivors and $75 million will go in a trust fund to protect any future victims.

In a statement, attorney Michelle Tuegel of Waco said they are hopeful that the legacy of this settlement will be something that not only brings healing to our clients, but also changes the culture in such a way that little girls and young women will not have to face the threat of sexual assault in sports and in our schools.
