Members in the Waco community got the chance to say thank you to their local first responders.
Agencies from across the county spent time with one another to hear the appreciation behind the work they put in during the second annual “We Say Thanks” event.
Organizers say after hosting the first appreciation event last year, they had to give it a go again, with people throughout the community eager to say thanks to our local heroes.
“Tonight is about celebrating superheroes!”
Sometimes a simple act of gratitude can go a long way.
“We don’t hear this everyday,” Hewitt police Cheif Jim Devlin said.
Police, firefighters and emergency responders were all recognized for their hard work.
“I appreciate the fact that our law enforcement, our fire department and our first responders are very open and are very visible in our community and very approachable,” Centex African American Chamber of Commerce CEO Laveda Brown said.
Many community members were thankful for their contribution to keep everyone out of harms way.
“It’s a win win for both of us when we can get together like this and talk about issues and hammer things out and have that open dialogue it’s really a great thing.”
The appreciation, is bringing the community and agencies much closer.
“Thank you,” Devlin said. “Just simply thank you.”
