Waco K-9 officer to be reassigned

Waco’s newest K-9 officer is being reassigned.

Former explorer Tanner Sheldon, along with his partner Desena, graduated from K-9 School on Monday.

Tanner joined the Army last summer to complete basic training in Missouri. Police say there is a good chance he could be stationed at Fort Hood next.

“We’re extremely proud of him because I think it’s a testament of what our Police Explorer program does for our young people out there who have a desire to be in the criminal justice system,” says Sofie Martinez, of Waco Crime Stoppers.

Former Waco PD Explorers are doing great things all over – Justin Gonzales with West PD recently received the Life Saving Award. Chad Krakowian with Killeen PD was awarded Officer of the Year. Kelli Sharp will be graduating from southern Mississippi with a degree in Forensic Science and a minor in Criminal Justice.
