Copperas Cove police have arrested a local man on charges he put a gun to the head of a woman inside a Copperas Cove bar.

Police were called to the bar at 181 West Business Highway 190 late Wednesday night in reference to an assault involving a gun.

When they got there, they found a female victim who told officers she had been assaulted by her ex-boyfriend,  identified as Bryan Earl Tabias Johnson.

She told officers her ex was upset because she was at the bar with another male friend.

Officers were told he physically assaulted her, then held a handgun to her head.

Johnson was not at the scene when officers first arrived, but returned a short time later while the officers were still gathering information.

Witnesses confirmed that the assault took place,  though no weapon was recovered at the scene.

Johnson was taken to jail on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
