Woodway Public Safety Director Yost Zakhary has resigned after confessing to inappropriate behavior.
Woodway City Council members all voted to approve Zakhary’s request to resign at Monday night’s meeting, after an hour-long Executive Session discussing the matter. City officials say Zakhary did admit to making inappropriate comments.
FOX44 attempted to get an interview with Zakhary, but he left the meeting before we could talk with him.
City Council members say Zakhary will be keeping his position as city manager. However, his resignation as public safety director is effective on April 11.
According to the City of Woodway website, Zakhary started his law enforcement career as a dispatcher with Woodway in 1979. He then worked his way up the ranks as a Woodway police officer, supervisor, investigator and eventually Public Safety Director and City Manager in 2001.
