COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The No.11 Texas A&M Aggies fell, 3-2, to the Missouri Tigers in a 15-inning duel of pitching staffs Saturday afternoon on Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
The Aggies let a 2-0 lead slip away with one strike left to end the game. Pinch-hitter Thomas Broyles hit a two-out, two-run home run on a 1-2 offering to tie the game in the top of the ninth.
Missouri mustered a run in the top of the 15th with two singles sandwiched around a wild pitch to take the lead. The Aggies got the tying run to third in the home half of the 15th.
Asa Lacy had a stellar start, scattering four hits and one walk while fanning 12 in 7.2 scoreless innings. Chandler Jozwiak was saddled with the loss despite an outstanding performance out of the bullpen. He allowed one run on six hits and one walk while striking out four in 5.2 innings.
The Aggies’ pitching staff recorded their 11th straight double-digit strikeout performance and 22nd of the season.
Logan Foster and Braden Shewmake led the Aggies offensively. Foster was 3-for-6 with one run and one RBI, while Shewmake tallied three hits. Texas A&M was doomed by 1-for-10 hitting with runners in scoring position and four double plays.
The loss snapped the Aggies’ eight game win streak. The Maroon & White dropped to 23-6 overall and 6-2 in the SEC. Missouri improved to 18-10 overall and 3-5 in league play.
The rubber match is slated for Sunday at 1:02 p.m.
