Baylor baseball heads to Lubbock this weekend for a three game set against Texas Tech, with the Big 12 lead in tow.
The Bears will be facing off against the preseason favorite Red Raiders who sit 2.5 games behind Baylor to start the weekend. Baylor Closer Kyle Hill knows this is a big opportunity for his team to make a statement.
“It is, I mean every time we play Texas Tech it’s a statement weekend,” he said. “They’re a very good ball club, they can pitch they can hit, so going to Lubbock, playing them at their place, it’s going to be a good series and we’re looking forward to it.”
Head coach Steve Rodriguez likes the way his team has been playing for the last few weeks, responding to whatever adversity is thrown their way and he knows they’re going to need that against a good Tech team this weekend.
“Tech’s going to be a great team,” he said. “[They have] great starting pitching, great hitting — they’ve got some veterans on their team, which are pretty good, so we’re going to have our work cut out for us, we’re just going to need to go up there and play well.”
Texas Tech and Baylor get their series started with a 6:30pm first-pitch in Lubbock on Thursday night.
