Baylor has been practicing without corner’s Harrison Hand and Jameson Houston, while Grayland Arnold and Derrek Thomas are showing signs of bumps and bruises.
Defensive coordinator Phil Snow confirmed the injuries on Thursday when speaking with the media, but said they shouldn’t be out long-term.
“It’s early Camp, stuff,” Snow said. “You see it a lot in the NFL right now, right. The guy’s nicked, it’s early camp stuff. Unfortunately our strength Coaches cannot — you cannot duplicate what we do in football. We try to in the offseason, but all the explosiveness, the stop and start stuff, it’s just minor stuff that we’ll get them back and get them going.”
Snow does like the the toughness he has seen from his team in this camp so far, but he said it’s something you have to watch for every single day.
“We’re getting tougher, but that’s an every day thing,” he said. “Even guys like Mike Tyson, at the end of his career wasn’t as tough as he was when he was younger, right? So you can lose that very quickly if you don’t put your thumb on it. That’s something we’re on every day, and if we lose it it’s hard to get back.”
Baylor will hold practices on Friday and Saturday before taking their next off day, on Sunday.
