The Baylor Football team returns to spring practice on Thursday where they will begin their last 7 workouts before the spring game on April 21st.
Coach Rhule is keeping several veterans out of contact drills during the spring to ensure they are fully healed and ready to go when ACU comes to McLane Stadium to open up the 2018 season. In the meantime, the reps not taken by the returners have been gobbled up by some of the younger, eager underclassmen.
“The older guys who we know what they can do, we know what they can do,” he said. “The guys you have a good idea of what they can do you’re still trying to develop them. Really this is an opportunity for young guys to say, hey I’m going to be in the mix. You can count on me, hey i’m a play maker, I’m a guy, that can get it done.”
Defensive Coordinator, Phil Snow, feels like his unit will be improved next year, but they have a chance to be even more special the following year when they get in all those extra reps.
“We’re going to be better this year,” Snow said. “Next year, we could be really good, because they’re making this much progress. We’ll be good this year but every game these guys are going to get better because we still have some really young players that have to get some playing experience.”
