Two years ago, a group of Baylor students attended the Bears vs. Cyclones football game in Ames, Iowa. Last year, the group returned to Iowa State to see the Baylor men’s basketball game, and this weekend, the current students and alumni are making the trip again to see the football game.
However, this year, the group decided to officially make it a yearly trip, establishing a tradition that no matter where they all live, they’ll attend the Baylor football game or basketball game at Iowa State.
“We’re like okay we need to find a way to come back together, because we have guys in San Francisco guys in Atlanta, Dallas,” John Eagle said. “… so we thought okay the past two years we’ve gone to Iowa and it was always such a great trip.”
“Starting of my sophomore year I was kind of roped into it, and it was this huge road victory,” Grant Eagle said. “… right then I was like wow, we need to make this a tradition and do this every year that we can.”
“… it gives me something to look forward to, I know that I can count on that game to come around, whether it’s basketball or football…” Jordan Soupiset said.
“… being from Iowa, sometimes a lot of people don’t get to come up and see where I’m from,” Austin Allaire said. “… so it’s a lot of fun to be able to share that with these guys.”
“… following them to another state for their game, I definitely feel like more of a hard core fan, and it’s fun to cheer them on in enemy territory,” Richard Medina said.
