The Baylor Men’s Basketball team entered Tuesday night with a share of the lead in the Big 12 conference with Kansas State.
Even with both of them leading one of the toughest conferences in the country neither cracked the latest top-25 rankings. Senior King McClure said his team is aware of where they are in the rankings, but they want to let their play do the talking.
“Still nobody’s really picking us to win the Big 12,” he said. “Everybody thinks it’s a fluke, that we’re just lucky right now. We kind of like the underdog title, because it makes us go out there and play even harder.”
Head Coach Scott Drew understands why the preseason rankings were a little lower, but their goal is to make sure their ranking at the end of the season is much higher than where it was to start the season.
“We all know where we were picked in the preseason poll,” he said. “Again, that’s very understandable, only having 3 returning letterman, fewest in the power-five, I mean I understand that, but at the same time we know where we were picked, and the goal is to finish higher than that.”
The Bears will get their next chance to let their play do the talking, on Wednesday, in Austin against Texas at 1:00pm.
