As the Baylor Men’s basketball team heads north to Kansas City they will be tasked with trying to beat the best offensive team in the league, Iowa State, for a third time.
Both their meetings were decided by four point, or less this season and The Bears know to beat Iowa State again, they will have to execute late in another close game.
“That’s what makes the Big 12 so competitive and so tough,” Head Coach Scott Drew said. “You play someone twice and you beat them the first time it’s really hard to beat them the second time, and it’s that much harder to beat them a third time. the good thing is you’re usually familiar with each other and it usually comes down to a couple of obsessions, and hopefully we operate better in those obsessions.”
Junior guard Devonte Bandoo trusts the coaches to put his team in the right position to beat the cyclones, just like they have in the two previous meetings.
“One thing I think we do well is we space the floor and make the right reads,” he said. “It’s definitely going to be tough to beat the team again, but it’s up to our coaching staff, and we know they’re going to lead us in the right position, and have a great game plan against them.”
Baylor will practice at the Sprint Center on Wednesday morning ahead of their Thursday morning match-up with the Cyclones.
