The Baylor Softball Team will head to St. George, Utah where they will play five games in three days.
After a couple of tough weeks at Getterman Stadium playing some tough competition Coach Glenn Moore is looking forward to getting his girls on the road to have some fun and continue to bond as a team.
“It’s been a lot of stress on this team dealing with, losing some players some teammates, for the season and then, of course Coach Lumley who we’re going to miss greatly,” Moore said. “But it’s going to be a nice opportunity for us to take a rest and get away from softball for a day, and get to know hoot a little bit. i think that will be a great bonding experience for us. I told them yesterday that we need to know where the line stops for fun, and excitement and it becomes a business trip.”
The Lady Bears have a new face, but a familiar face in the Steve “Hoot” Johnigan. Johnigan a long time baseball assistant brings a fresh perspective to this team.
“It took them about 15 minutes to realize what type of person he was,” Moore said. “He brought an energy to practice yesterday, an exciting feel for it, just his terminology his wisdom. he was throwing facts and figures relating baseball to softball, which these kids love they all follow baseball, so you can’t replace Lum he’s been around so long, but he and Lum are great friends and they’re going to work together as well as Lum heals and he’s a godsend for us at this moment.”
The Ladies will open their tournament on Friday at 4:00pm against Southern Utah.
