The 21st-ranked Baylor Softball team will host the Baylor invitational, beginning Friday when they will host a double-header with North Texas and No. 10 Louisiana.
Baylor has shown flashes of greatness this year but has also shown their youth, and Head Coach Glenn Moore knows that’s part of having a young team, but he wants his team to learn from these mistakes to make them better down the road.
“If I’m a tyrant and I go in the locker room after every game and go crazy then the team is going to fall apart right now, and I don’t mean that i need to coddle them either,” he said. “We need to point out what they’re doing wrong and expect them to respond to that in a positive way. If they do that we grown the team, if they don’t then I become a tyrant.”
These early games are all about finding the right combinations that play well together. Freshman outfielder Lou Gilbert knows the pieces are there they just need to find them.
“Yes we’re a young team and yes we have to learn how to mesh together, but there’s a lot of talent out there,” she said. “Once we learn to play as the best nine rather than the nine-best, then we’ll be an amazing team.”
Baylor opens the invitational at 3:00pm on Friday.
