Baylor Softball will play their first games in the newly renovated Getterman Stadium, Friday when they host the Getterman Classic this weekend.
The Bears are finishing up a road trip where they went 4-2 including a 3-2 mark against some tough competition in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to open the season.
“I walked away from that tournament feeling more optimistic than I thought I would,” Head Coach Glenn Moore said. “Thinking that after losing Gia it was not a tournament that I would have chosen to play with this young talent, but the way they responded to it the way they were up for the games, and handled the adversity. The future is bright, how quickly we get there is the big question.”
The ladies know they will face a tough challenge but they are happy to finally be back on their beautiful new playing surface.
“We’re so excited to be back here playing on the new field, coming off some pretty big wins, in Puerto Vallarta,” Sophomore Pitcher Sidney Holman said. “We’re ready to carry on the winning tradition here at Getterman Stadium.”
Baylor will host Sam Houston State at 3:00pm followed by Southern Miss at 5:30 on Friday afternoon.
