The Baylor Women’s Tennis left for California early Tuesday morning ahead of their match with NC State on Friday to Open their NCAA Tournament run.
The Ladies have seemed to find their groove winning six of their last eight matches entering the tournament, but that has taken a lot of hard work from head Coach Joey Scrivano and his team.
At one point the lady Bears had lost six of seven and Scrivano was tasked with keeping the ship pointed in the right direction with a boat-load of new faces.
“I don’t think I could afford to be impatient, because everyone else was panicking,” he said. “When we lost five straight, I really thought I was going to have to meet with every parent, every junior coach, every boyfriend, every friend of our players, just to get them back on board and get them to understand that this is a process. That was the key to make sure we didn’t lose anybody at that stage of the season.”
The Lady bears open their tournament at Noon Central on Friday when they take on NC State.
