Brockport Ready For Their Shot at The Champs

Sports

The UMHB Crusaders will be looking to punch their second-straight trip to the Stagg Bowl on Saturday with an undefeated Brockport team standing in their way.

UMHB has the playoff pedigree coming off their first championship with an all-time playoff record of 35-14. Brockport is a relative newcomer with a 5-4 record in the playoffs, but they are not backing down from the challenge that lays in front of them.

“We got here for a reason,” head coach Jason Mangone said. “Nobody gave us anything. We had ne victory under 10-points. That’s not to say we dominated every opponent we played. But we played well enough to earn our right here.”

The Golden Eagles are taking the ‘why not us’, mentality to heart, as they make the trip to Belton.

“It’s like Coach said all week, Why not us,” receiver JoJo Ortiz said. “We’re not afraid, we’re not timid. They’re just another team. They’re human beings just like us so we’re going to keep fighting like we’ve done all season long.”

The Cru and Golden Eagles will kick at 2:30pm from Crusader Stadium on Saturday.
