Competition Takes A Step Up, In Florida, For Baylor MBB

Baylor Men’s basketball has started their season at 3-1 against three SWAC opponents and Nicholls State.

The Bears run through the southeast continues this week as they head to the Florida Panhandle for the Emerald Coast Classic.

First up for the Bears will be the Ole Miss Rebels. Senior King McClure, said Ole Miss will provide a nice step-up in competition as the schedule heats up over the next month, leading into conference play.

“This tournament will definitely show them how the rest of the season is going to be,” he said. “The Big 12 is Hard. the past four people we’ve played, they aren’t really Big 12/power-five schools, so this will give them a preview of what we’re about to see for the rest of the season.”

After scrimmages against Vanderbilt and SMU, Head Coach, Scott Drew knows they have seen this level of competition, but he is looking forward to seeing it in a game atmosphere.

“Scrimmaging against Vanderbilt, playing against SMU, gave you a sense of some of that,” he said. “Now obviously a tournament setting, game format, the stakes are a lot higher.”

The Bears and Rebels Tip off at 8:30 on Friday Night in Niceville, Florida.
