The Baylor Bears trailed for much of their game Tuesday Night against South Dakota, but they found a way to go on a 12-0 run in the last five minutes to salt away the game.
Yale transfer Makia Mason hit some big shots down the stretch, while the bears also got contributions from another transfer in Mario Kegler, who made his debut on Tuesday. Scott Drew knows that in the Big 12 many games will come down to the wire so he was glad to see this group find a wat to pull a game out, late.
“It’s going to take a long time for us the rest of the month to get chemistry, rotations, be able to put in some plays with personnel,” Drew said. “The difference with a young team and being able to have some experience at the end of the game, we win the last five minutes by plus-12. With first-year guys, you don’t win the last five minutes, and you don’t win it by 12 normally. It was great to get stops.”
The Bears schedule ramps up in a huge way starting Saturday when they travel to Wichita State.
