The Dallas Cowboys kept four tight ends last season including former Baylor Basketball player Rico Gathers.
Gathers caught three passes last year for 45 yards in 2018, and with Jason Witten returning to the Cowboys this season, Silver Star Nation Cowboys Insider Mickey Spagnola said Gathers had better be ready to compete from the jump at training camp, to stick around.
Boy he better show up at training camp ready to go,” Spagnola said. “I know they kept four tight ends last year, initially but I don’t know if they go that route again. So he’s going to have to really show up and show something. Certainly they like what Blake Jarwin did towards the end of the season, they like, what Dalton Shultz did towards the end of the season, and then you Add Witten to it, so Rico better be on his toes and be ready to go when they get into training camp.”
Gathers was a 6th round pick in the 2016 NFL draft.
