The Baylor Bears are 2-6 in conference play, and on a three game losing streak. Their last victory was on January 15th, at the Ferrell Center, defeating Oklahoma State 76-60.
“Sports is such a momentum and confidence thing,” Scott Drew said. “It’s amazing, you get a win and all of a sudden there’s pep in your step, you got some swag again.”
The Bears had a five game win streak going heading into conference play, but dropped their first matchup against Texas Tech. Even though Baylor has only two conference wins, they’ve played well against ranked teams such as West Virginia and Kansas. Both of those games were on the road, and the Bears fell short three points in both matchups.
“It’s tough for everybody to be upbeat obviously, with the situation that we’re in,” Jo Lual-Acuil said. “But you just gotta move on to the next game you know, there’s nothing you can do about the past, so our main focus is our next game; everybody seems really happy in the locker room, we’re all good, just gotta focus to get a win on Tuesday.”
Baylor has been in a tough spot like this before. In 2014, the team was 2-8 in conference play, then went on a run and made it to the Sweet 16.
“The great thing is, as long as you’re playing games, you control your own destiny,” Scott Drew said. “We control our destiny, as long as that ball is bouncing.”
The team looks to get their mojo back tomorrow, against Oklahoma. The game tips off at 8:00 PM CT, on ESPN 2.
