Texas A&M will enter the 2019 season unranked, but D1 Baseball’s Kendall Rogers said the Aggies were certainly not far from making their rankings.
“If we had a 26th team, A&M was the team,” he said. “I do feel like A&M’s a club that could make us look a little silly at the end of the year. I think they’re really going to pitch.”
Their pitching starts with their Ace, John Doxakis, who established himself as a front-line starter in 2018 when he finished 3rd in the SEC in ERA.
“A&M has two primer arms at the front of the rotation the bullpen is a little uncertain, just because roles haven’t been ironed out,” Rogers said. “I feel very good about the pitching.”
A&M’s offense showed potential, at times in 2018, but in order for them to be a serious contender in 2019 Rogers believes that offense is going to need to find some more coeternity.
“I feel like this A&M team over the last couple of years, they’ve just relied on guys like Braden Shewmake way too much,” he said. “I think if you look at this line-up. I like the addition of Mikey Horner and guys like that, but they’ve got to give Shewmake some help.”
Texas A&M will open their season on February 15th at Blue Bell Park against Fordham.
