The Baylor Lady Bears (20-1 (10-0)) have beat Texas Tech 16-straight times and hope to make it 17 when they visit the 1-9 Lady Raiders on Saturday.
Baylor coming off a stretch of three tough games against ranked opponents, it would be understandable for them to have a bit of a letdown, but head Coach Kim Mulkey says don’t bet on it.
“We’ve never been a program that overlooked anybody,” Mulkey said. “They know what they’re playing for, and they know that anybody is capable of beating you if you don’t come to play if you take care of business.”
Baylor Beat Texas Tech by 48 in Waco in late December, a game that was the final straw for former Texas Tech Head Coach Candi Whitaker. With Interim Head Coach Shimmy Gray-Miller, Mulkey knows this will be a little bit of a different Texas Tech team.
“They haven’t won was many games as I’m sure they would have liked, but when you’re an interim head coach you do the best that you can,” she said. “I think she is working hard on that sideline from what I can see to try and get those young ladies to play hard.”
A win on Saturday for Baylor would mark a 7th straight win over Texas Tech, in Lubbock.
