It’s been seven years since the Lady Bears won their last National Title, which came seven years after their first National Title. The number one also sticks out to the Lady Bears, as one more win will crown the team National Champions.
“The feeling is unreal, I’m still in shock I’m still overwhelmed,” Kalani Brown said. “I’m just happy to be a part of this team right now.”
It’s something the team has done 36 times this season, and if they win one more, it will cement their place in college basketball history.
“This is what we’ve been working for, and now we’re here, we literally have one more to go,” Moon Ursin said. “We can leave it all on the court, every ounce of energy, everything we have.”
The Lady Bears have overcome just about every obstacle in their path, and the last one happens to be the defending National Champions, Notre Dame.
“They know how good they are, they know they’re the defending champs,” Kim Mulkey said. “They know basically they’ll play 5 kids that won’t be back next year, so they have experience in the game.”
“We’re gonna have to go out there and guard them, rely on our defense,” Juicy Landrum said. “But they’re gonna have to guard us too.”
“We’ve played in big games too, we’ve won Big 12 Championships nine straight years,” Lauren Cox said. “So we’ve played in big games.”
