Quarterback Vince Young set his name in stone as a legend, after his gutsy performance in the 2006 Rose Bowl. Young ran in the winning touchdown on 4th and 5, with under 30 seconds left to play, to beat USC by 3 points in the National Championship. The Houston native was drafted as the 3rd overall pick in 2006, by the Tennessee Titans, and was named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year by the associated press. Young talked about a moment prior to the 2005 season, and how it significantly impacted the team.
“We came in for the meeting for the first time of the season, and guys came in not following the rules, guys had their earrings in, guys pants were sagging … I wanted them to know we’er not finished yet, it’s just starting for us… so we’re gonna run for them, because these guys are disrespecting your rules, and I feel like that message that day set the tone for our whole season… ” Vince Young said.
