The McLennan Highlander Basketball team suffered their first conference loss of the season on Saturday against Collin County Community College.
With Temple coming to town on Wednesday the Highlanders are making the most of their wake-up call to get back on track.
“Yeah we probably needed that because our heads were kind of big,” freshman Javen Hedgeman said. “We thought that we wouldn’t lose until we lost to Collin, so we needed that.”
Sophomore Jashawn Talton knows they let one slip away on Saturday and they are focused on atoning for those mistakes in Practice ahead of the Temple game.
“To get back on track we’ve just got to come back here and practice,” he said. “Go 100%, just make sure we’re paying attention to what we need to be paying attention to, so we can win the game, because Coach is giving us all the right tools.”
Head Coach Kevin Gill knows that all this team’s goals are still in front of them and they look forward to chasing down that third-straight conference title.
“We haven’t really talked about it a lot, but we tell the kids that when they come to McLennan,” he said. “We expect to win a championship, and we have a chance to do it again.”
McLennan and Temple Junior College tip off at 7:30pm on Wednesday night at the Highlands.
