Mulkey Remains With Family As Baylor Heads to UCLA

As the Lady Bears travel west for a top-10 match-up with UCLA, head coach, Kim Mulkey, is remaining with her daughter and family, after the loss of her grandchild, Scout.

According to Baylor Athletics, on Thursday, doctors found Scout did not have a heartbeat, and was delivered, Friday morning.

Mulkey and her daughter, Makenzie, announced she was pregnant with her first child, earlier this week via twitter.

Mulkey kept her team apprised with the latest on baby Scout, and the team took the news pretty hard.

“She’s always up-front and honest about this,” Brock said. “Makenzie and Clay have talked to our team about the possibility that they might lose their child, so when it happened it was not a total shock, Obviously when she made the announcement our girls took it really really hard, we’re a family. But they came back out and practiced after that and they’re ready to get to UCLA and Try to take care of business.”

The Lady Bears will take on #8/7 UCLA in Pauley Pavilion, tomorrow at 3:00pm.

UPDATE: Original story said Scout was ‘unborn’, that was incorrect, Scout was found to have no heartbeat and was delivered on Friday Morning.
