The Texas Rangers Winter Caravan made a stop at the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce’s First Pitch Luncheon, on Thursday at the Baylor Club.
Retired pitcher Shawn Tolleson, Infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa, Outfielder Willie Calhoun, Hitting Coach Luis Ortiz, and radio broadcaster Matt Hicks visited with local media and then talked to the fans at the luncheon, during a panel discussion hosted by Hicks.
Kiner-Falefa new to the Caravan but enjoyed the opportunity to get out and mingle with Ranger fans.
“Texas is a big big state,” The Hawaii native said. “Bigger than I am used to, so getting around and meeting all of the new fans, the ones you don’t see often, but they watch you on TV, it means alot.”
New Rangers hitting coach Luis Ortiz is familiar with the Waco area and looks forward to getting out and talking with the fans about how excited he is to be a part of this team.
“It’s going to be fun baseball,” he said of the Rangers. “It’s going to be this young group of guys, that are going to play hard every single day and it’s going to be a joy to watch. And the fact that this game is for the people, it’s for the fans and we need to appreciate that.”
The Caravan also made stops at a T-Mobile store on New Road and Jim Turner Chevrolet in McGregor.
