The Baylor Bears took advantage of a well-earned off-day thanks to deep starts by Cody Bradford and Hayden Kettler in their first two games.
Bradford went 7.2 innings allowing no runs in Baylor’s opener against Oklahoma, a 4-0 win. Kettler followed it up with 7 strong innings of one-run ball in a 10-5 win over Oklahoma.
“We have a deep pitching staff,” Kettler said after the win. “That’s one of the luxuries of this team. I think we’re in a pretty good position with Cody having a long outing yesterday, me being able to save some arms. Being able to go seven today saved the bullpen a little bit, with the day off I think we’re in a good spot. We’ll see how it plays out.”
The Bears will now face an Oklahoma team playing their 4th game in 4 days, while the Bears have had to play just three in that same span, a big advantage for the Bears.
“It’s nice to have a day off to energize yourself and be able to refocus back in and get ready for the weekend,” Head Coach Steve Rodriguez said.
The Bears and Sooners get going at 9:00am on Saturday morning in Oklahoma City.
