The Baylor Lady Bears are four wins away from a national title as they get set to open the Greensboro regional on Saturday against South Carolina.
Baylor has been stopped short of the final four in each of the last six years, but junior Lauren Cox said this team looks poised to be the one to break that drought.
“We have the depth we have the team chemistry, we’re just playing really well together,“ Cox said. “We’re playing really good defense. We can score from anywhere, so I think that sets us a part from the last two years.“
Head Coach Kim Mulkey knows a few of those teams were cut down by injuries so staying healthy is one of the most important thing for this team to get over the top.
“You have to stay healthy,“ she said. “I think things that will potentially get you there are, continue to be who you are. We’re going to rebound the ball, we’re going to defend you. I can’t tell you if we’re always going to shoot good because some times the other team’s defense is good as well. But if you’ll defend and you’ll rebound you’ll always stand a chance.“
The Lady Bears will hit the practice floor in Greensboro, North Carolina tomorrow afternoon.
