UMHB’s Kathryn Reed named ASC Pitcher of the Week

BELTON, Texas – University of Mary Hardin-Baylor softball freshman Kathryn Reed has been named American Southwest Conference Pitcher of the Week for the week ending March 11th.  This is UMHB’s second ASC weekly award this season and first pitching honor.

Reed, a native of Axtell, Texas (Axtell H.S.), threw a pair of shutout victories against Hardin-Simmons last weekend, beating the Cowgirls 3-0 and 4-0 in Belton. In UMHB’s 4-0 win, Reed threw all seven innings with one hit and one walk allowed. She followed with five hitless frames in the Cru’s 3-0 win, walking just three batters with only three hits allowed. Reed threw two complete games, striking out 16 batters over 14 innings.

UMHB returns to action on Monday, March 11th in a 4 p.m. doubleheader against Transylvania University in Seguin.
