Wallace Leads No. 3 Lady Bears Past No. 6 Texas

The Lady Bears improved to 18-18 on the season and 8-0 in the Big 12 after dismantling sixth-ranked Texas 81-56 on Thursday night.

Kristy Wallace was unstoppable on the night scoring 27 points grabbing seven rebounds, dishing 4 assists while getting a pair of steals. Wallace came out with an attacking mindset and took it to the Texas defense.

“I think I was looking to attack,” she said. “Our bigs were doing a great job inside and a few guards were helping off to begin with. So I think that being able to attack, from the perimeter and maybe hit a few shots that kind of opened up the inside for me.”

Baylor Head Coach Kim Mulkey joked after the game that the Australia native did well with “Australia” day on the horizon.

“It’s Australia Day, isn’t it,” She asked. “Well in Australia, whatever the timezone is, it’s Australia day so the Aussie did good.”

Kalani Brown recorded 17 points and 11 rebounds while Lauren Cox poured in 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Baylor will be back in action on Sunday when they travel to West Virginia.
