What Rivalry? Mulkey Doesn’t see Texas as a “Rival”

The Baylor Lady Bears dominated their way to a 20th win in 21 tries against Texas, on Monday Night 64-35.

thirty-five points, was one of the lowest point-totals in Texas women’s basketball history and while these two have had some spirited games over the last few years, Baylor Head Coach Kim Mulkey, does not see the Longhorns as a “rival”.

“To the fans, I’m sure it is a rivalry,” Mulkey said. “When I moved to Texas 19-years ago, I don’t know we played texas a lot of times during my tenure at Louisiana Tech, with Jody Conradt, I don’t view it as a rivalry. I view it as a very good team, a respected team, and a program. Honestly they don’t really know it like yall are trying to think we do, we just don’t sit in there and do that. I give them the same motivational speech, with the last game at iowa State that I do at Texas.”

The Lady Bears will have a few days to rest up before hosting their regular season home finale, on Saturday at 1:00pm when they host Oklahoma State.
